Villas-Boas wants Coentrao

01 August 2013 [16:35] - TODAY.AZ
Relations between Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur seems to be going through one of their better moments. The two clubs have for the past fortnight been negotiating the transfer of Gareth Bale to Ancelotti's team, but haven't as yet reached an agreement to seal the deal for the Welsh star.

However, Bale's is not the only name to have been mentioned in conversations between Florentino Pérez and Daniel Levy. With a view to reducing the cost of the signing, the Real Madrid president is looking to include a player in part-exchange.

Fabio Coentrao is one of the players who has been offered, and Andres Villas-Boas is quite a fan of the Portuguese full back.

Coentrao was signed for Real Madrid two seasons back by fellow Portuguese José Mourinho, for €30 million. However, criticism, problems off the field and Marcelo’s excellent form have all prevented him becoming first choice at full back.

This isn't the first time that the Tottenham manager has shown interest in Coentrao. Villas-Boas at one time wanted him with him during his Chelsea adventure, but Real Madrid's offer persuaded Coentrao, who finally left Benfica for the Spanish capital.

During the summer, Coentrao has indicated his willingness to leave Real Madrid, and Chelsea, where he would rejoin Mourinho, and Monaco, have also expressed interest in signing him.
