Azerbaijan, Turkey may bid for hosting FIFA World Cup 2026

Azerbaijan and Turkey can make a joint bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2026, the Turkish Aksam newspaper quoted Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov as saying.

The minister said Azerbaijan previously expressed intention to hold the Youth Olympic Games together with Dagestan, but the initiative was rejected, as co-hosting of the Olympics is not allowed. However, holding the World Cup together with Turkey is possible, he said.
