Baku is favorite among bidders for Olympic Games 2020

The famous sport portal GamesBid reports that Baku is a favorite in the struggle for hosting the Olympic Games 2020, the Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Ministry reported.

Based on the result of the portal’s poll, Baku gained the highest number of votes among six cities. Roughly 50.63% of respondents answered ‘Baku’ to the question ‘Which city do you support in the bid for hosting Olympic Games 2020?’. Our capital city gained 10,252 votes and took its place above Istanbul (16.29%), Tokyo (12.86%), Madrid (10.89), Doha (5.61) and Rome (3.72).

“GamesBids is quite an influential website, specialized in Olympic subject. Over 50 percent of votes is an impressive indicator. I am sure that if we get the right to host the Olympics, 2020 Games will be among the best in history,” CEO of the Steering Committee Baku-2020 Konul Nurullayeva commented on the results of the poll.

She expressed confidence that the results of this survey will be considered by members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in the determination of the city that will host the Olympic Games-2020.
