
The World Health Organization (WHO) publicized its annual report which is reflection the spread of TB in the world.
The UN official website reported that the WHO experts, who described the problem as “alarming”, added Azerbaijan to the list of countries with the highest burden of illness.
According to the document, new types of TB are spreading in Azerbaijan and post-soviet countries and some countries can’t make a diagnosis to this disease.
Ogtay Gozalov, from the WHO’s Europe office, said: "It’s not just the vulnerable populations like migrants and prisoners - all of us could be exposed. “If member states don’t take action now, there could be a dramatic situation in the future.”
WHO developed a plan for prevention of TB’s spread and about USD 5 bln fund is demanded for its execution.
