Number of marriages and divorces increases in Azerbaijan

As many as 39,803 marriages were concluded in Azerbaijan during the 6 months of 2011, Registry Head of the Justice Ministry’s Main Department for Registration and Notary Reyhane Karimova said.

According to Karimova, 792 marriages were concluded in Azerbaijan with foreigners and stateless in the first half of this year. 5335 divorces were recorded in the first half of the year. 19 of them belong to the marriages of foreigners and stateless.

Karimova said that the increase was recorded in the number of marriages and divorces in comparison with the corresponding period of the last year. Thus, 32,681 marriages were concluded in the first half of 2010, the number of marriages with foreigners and stateless was 773.

4276 divorces were recorded in the first half of 2010. The decrease was recorded in the divorces with foreigners and stateless in the last year’s respective period. Thus, 41 divorces were recorded with foreigners and stateless in the last year’s respective period.
