26 May 2006 [13:22] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan's National TV and Radio Council (NTRC) decided not to renew the license for Khachmaz TV.

The Council's pres service told APA that according to this decision a competition for transmission in the 43rd frequency in which the TV was broadcasting, will be announced on 1 June. The rules and term of the competition will be made public.

The NTRC head Nushirevan Maharramli told APA that the Council has many times issued warning to the founder of the Khachmaz TV-executive power of Khachmaz region.

"According to the law on TV and Radio broadcasting, a state institution must not own a television. Despite of the warning, this problem was not solved. So, we decided to ban the transmission of the TV channel," Maharramli said.

The Council head also said that all the rest televisions causing the analogical problems will be banned.
