Oxford University professor visits ANAS

Oriental scientist of the Oxford University Prof. Robert Hoyland has visited the Institute of Oriental Studies named after academician Ziya Bunyadov of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences to exchange views on the development of oriental science in Azerbaijan.

In the meeting, director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, MP, Professor Govhar Bakhshaliyeva briefed the American professor on the activity of the Institute, as well as the academy system of Azerbaijan.

With his investigations on Islam’s dissemination by Arabs, Mr. Hoyland was interested in the spread of this religion in Azerbaijan. Bakhshaliyeva gave detailed information on this issue and made recommendations on the manuscripts and books.

Hoyland got acquainted with the works published by the Azerbaijan Institute of the Oriental Studies.
