11 December 2012 [14:14] - TODAY.AZ
An event dedicated to European Union`s winning the Nobel Peace Prize has taken place in Baku.
The event was attended by foreign ambassadors, diplomats, government officials of Azerbaijan, and media.

Speaking to the event, head of the European Union delegation to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia underlined its importance. “Europe proved that development of economy, democracy and human rights are alternatives to the wars and conflicts. Numerous devastating wars in Europe showed that a conflict is not an alternative way of solving problems. The better solution is unification and joint resolution of problems. Awarding of such a prestigious prize is an evidence of our successes and encourages Europeans not to stop on what has been achieved,” Kobia said.

Speakers at the event also included French ambassador Pascal Meunier, chairman of the Women`s Society of Rationale Development Shahla Ismaylova, and pro-rector of the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy Fariz Ismayilzade.
