Seismic activity continues in Azerbaijani regions

Subsurface tension is being measured in all regions of Azerbaijan, Director General of the Republic Seismological Service of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Gurban Yetirmishli said.

He said the measurements were started in Balaken region, where high seismic activity had been detected recently. Geophysicists from the magnetometry unit of the Republic Seismological Service did measurements on profiles.

“The measurements will give an opportunity to get exact information about the subsurface tension in every region. Today the measurements will be done in Zagatala region. Later the measurements will be done in the southern regions of Azerbaijan”, he said.

Yetirmishli said seismic activity continues in Balaken. 78 earthquake shocks have been recorded since October 14.
