
It will be possible to predict quake coordinates in Azerbaijan in advance within a few months, Director of Cybernitician Istitute of National Academy of Science of Azerbaijan Telman Aliyev told journalists.
According to him, several post Soviet countries, including Turkey will also take an advantage of the stations which predict quakes in Azerbaijan in advance: “Such stations will be installed in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Ukraine in future. These stations are considered to be joint in common server. This project will allow predicting seismic events in the region in advance. ”
Aliyev said that, seismoacustic telemetric station has been installed over expired oil wells for the first time in the world. This station can monitor quakes before 15-20 hours. At present, these stations are functioning in Goom island of Baku, Siyazan, Naftalan and Shirvan. Such station will also be installed in Nakhchivan in future. Aliyev said that it is planned to increase these stations: “It may need to install some stations in future. 17 seismologists from the various countries were invited to these 5 stations for monitoring. It will be possible to predict quake coordinates in advance within a few months.”
