Drug smugglers arrested in Azerbaijan

The Ministry of National Security has revealed the facts of drug smuggling from Iran and confiscated about 25 kg of drug recently, the ministry’s press service told APA.

The report says that the citizen of Azerbaijan Orucov Ruslan and a citizen of Iran smuggled a large amount of narcotics to Azerbaijan’s Jalilabad region from Iran. Orucov visited Iran’s Germi city in May, 2012, met the Iranian named Rasul and ordered 2 kg of hashish paying USD 3000 to him. Rasul smuggled the drug to Jalilabad and informed Orucov about it. Ruslan Orucov took the drug and brought to Baku where he was detained. 1 kg 750 g of opium was found near him.

The citizens of Azerbaijan – Kazimov Javid and Hamidov Shahbaz were detained while smuggling drug. They smuggled a large amount of drug to Jalilabad region of Azerbaijan from Iran. An Iranian citizen named Abuzer helped them. They were detained while carrying 14 kg 859 g of opium in Lankaran city of Azerbaijan.

As a result of another operation conducted by the security forces, the citizens of Azerbaijan – Isayev Babek, his brother Kenan, Safarov Aris were detained. They smuggled drugs from Iran to Yardimli region of Azerbaijan with the help of Iranian citizen Muharram. Babek Isayev was detained in Salyan region while carrying 6 kg 765.9 g of opium to Baku. Kenan Isayev was detained in Yardimli, Aris Safarov in Shirvan. More than one kg of opium was found in Safarov’s house.

Another drug smuggler, the citizen of Azerbaijan Guliyev Fikret was detained in Baku and a large amount of heroin was found near him.

As a result of operational measures conducted on June 22, citizens of Azerbaijan – Aliyev Irmak and Alasgarova Fizza were detained. A large amount of heroin was found near them. They smuggled drugs from Iran with the help of Iranian citizen Fuad.

The criminal investigation was launched into the facts under articles of the Criminal Code (drug smuggling, storage, carrying and sale).

The investigation is underway.
