Preparations for Eurovision 2012 mulled

The Transport Ministry in Azerbaijan has held on Thursday a meeting in connection with preparations for the Eurovision 2012 Song Contest, the official website of the ministry said on Thursday.

Activities undertaken in connection with preparations for the Eurovision Song Contest were discussed at the meeting presided over by Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov. A report on the work held by organizations members of the road transport sector was heard, views on the planned activities were exchanged.

Such issues as the status of roads, installation of traffic signs, development of special schemes of routes in the respective directions, schemes of actions related to transportation by taxi and bus of tourists and official guests who will arrive in Baku, creation of special parking places for taxis , organization of control centers in order to regulate the process of carrying passengers were discussed.

In addition issues of organization of courses for drivers of buses and other vehicles engaged in transportation of passengers, installation of taximeters and POS-terminals in the taxi and other important issues were discussed.

At the end of the meeting Ziya Mammadov gave appropriate instructions to the heads of the organizations subordinate to the Ministry of Transport.
