Iranian President Chief of Staff Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaei attends Nowruz celebrations to be held in the UN, ISNA reported.

Mashaei said on Monday that he is most likely to take part in a Nowruz ceremony which is to be held in the UN and is sponsored by Iran and some other countries.

He will travel to the US on March 18 if his schedule is finalized.

"Last year, the United Nations called Nowruz a universal day and we are responsible for it. Since it is a part of our history," Mashaei noted.

"We believe that we have to take the most advantage of this opportunity to express the ideal thought of Iranian nation," he added.

Mashaei then referred to the universal ceremony of Nowruz to be held on March 27 in Tehran and noted that a number of presidents and foreign officials have been invited for the ceremony.

A seminar will be held in Tehran a day after the ceremony on March 28, which hosts a number of cultural elements as well as top national cultural figures and some foreign guests to celebrate Nowruz or take some measures for the Iranian tradition.
