
According to the schedule of the Central Electoral Commission, nomination of presidential candidates in Armenia begins today, December 25, and will last until January 4, ARKA reported.
Presidential elections in Armenia will be held on February 18, 2013. Nominees will be registered between January 4 and January 14, while the election campaign will begin on January 21 and end at midnight on February 16.
Nominees are allowed to reject their nominations till 18:00 on January 8.
According to the schedule, voting protocols will be made public on February 25.
The incumbent Armenian president, Serzh Sargsyan, Armenia's first Foreign Minister and the leader of opposition Heritage party Raffi Hovhannisyan, and former prime minister, chairman of the Freedom party Grant Bagratyan have already announced they would stand in the 2013 elections.
Former president, leader of the Armenian National Congress opposition bloc, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who was the main rival of Sargsyan during the previous elections, held in 2008, still remains silent.
