Silk and Fire festival to present masterpieces of Azerbaijani music

The International music festival Silk and Fire opened in the concert hall of the Theatre des Champs Elysees in Paris on September 13.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Azerbaijani ambassador to France Elchin Amirbayov expressed gratitude to the organizers of the Silk and Fire festival that will last till September 19.

Conducted by Eyyub Guliyev, the orchestra "Lamoureux" performed the overture from the opera "Koroglu" of Azerbaijan’s world-famous composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli. The event also saw performance of the works by Gara Garayev, Fikret Amirov, Vagif Mustafazade and others.

12 concert programs in classic, national, jazz, modern and baroque music genres are scheduled for the days of the festival.

Azerbaijani musicians have been invited to this international event as honored guests. The Chamber Orchestra of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeir Hajibeyli will perform with an extensive concert program under the direction of Fuad Ibrahimov on September 16.

Works by such Azerbaijani composers as U.Hajibeyli, G.Garayev, A.Malikov, Niyazi, A.Alizadeh will be performed at the concert, along with those of world classics.
