Italy presents its sporting brands in Baku

A fashion show featuring Italian sports brands, shoes, clothing, and accessories was held in Baku on June 15.

The colorful event was devoted to the 1st European Games, currently underway in Baku.

The event was jointly organized by the Italian Trade Promotion Agency (ITA), Italian Association of Sporting Goods Manufacturers (Assosport), Italian National Olympic Committee and the Italian Embassy in Azerbaijan.

Prior to its commencement, a press conference was held, featuring Italian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Giampaolo Kutillo, ITA commissioner Luigi Daprea, and Assosport Director Emanuela Viell.

The attendees noted the significance of the inaugural European Games. They also emphasized that the fashion show would lead to expanded business relations and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The Italian ambassador congratulated Azerbaijan for its remarkable job in hosting the Games. He also highlighted the use of Italian athletic brands throughout the sporting competition.

A fashion show followed the speeches.

Addressing the audience before the catwalk, the representatives of the Italian companies expressed appreciation for the opportunity to present their products in Azerbaijan.

Giovanni Malago, the president of the Italian National Olympic Committee said that he is very glad to be in Azerbaijan, calling its capital, Baku one of the beautiful cities in the world.

Some 800 products from 23 Italian companies were put on display during the event. Models demonstrated sportswear, footwear, accessories, and other products.

Bright colors, and comfortably cut, high-quality products attracted great interest from the guests. During the catwalk, models danced and performed acrobatics stunts, making the show even more interesting.

The European Games, that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last until June 28.

The innovative event has gathered more than 6,000 athletes from across Europe to compete in a total of 20 sports: 16 Olympic and four non-Olympic sports.
