Eurovision 2011 awarded with Rose d'Or

The Final of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf, hosted by German public broadcaster NDR, was awarded a Rose d'Or for Best Live Event Show yesterday in Lucerne, Switzerland. Stefan Raab, who co-hosted the show, was awarded with an Innovation Rose.

NDR Director General Lutz Marmor said, upon receiving the award: "The Eurovision Song Contest is a major television event in Europe. We are very happy with the international recognition of the Golden Rose."

50 television experts from 27 countries selected 36 nominees from an offer of 400 programmes, submitted from some 40 different countries.

Earlier, the Final of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest received a German Television Award.
"We are very proud with such prestigious recognition for the Eurovision Song Contest, which shows that after almost 57 years it might just be more alive than ever," said Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of the EBU.

The EBU congratulates Host Broadcaster NDR for being awarded the prestigious Rose d'Or for the Final 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf.
