BP restores production of Shah Deniz

Today production at the Shah Deniz field "in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea will be brought down to levels applied two days ago, due to generator problems, BP, the technical operator of Shah Deniz field, reported on Friday.

Before the problems occurred, production volumes reached about 18 million cubic meters per day from three wells.

Earlier, the company began the process of commissioning the generators on the Shah Deniz platform, shut down because of problems with diesel fuel that contaminated with water.
Currently, the platform is operating normally.

Also, according to the company, staff members who were earlier moved from the platform to land were returned to their workplace on the platform. Following the discovery of generator problems, the staff was initially taken to the shore.

Peak production is forecast at over 9 billion cubic meters of gas and 50,000 barrels of condensate per day. According to forecasts, within the second phase of the field’s development gas, production may be increased to 25 billion cubic meters per year.

Shah Deniz reserves are estimated at an amount of 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.
