
Azerenergy (production and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan) continues to work under the construction of a new power plant Janub, which will be located near the Shirvan hydro power plant, the company reported on Monday.
"The work is underway to build a 780-megawatt power plant Janub. Modern technology will be installed at the plant, thanks to which it will operate with gas and fuel oil," the statement reads.
The Shirvan power plant has expired and its equipment is physically and morally obsolete. Regarding this, the company conducts a repair work on the power stations.
Under the plan, major repairs are expected to be carried out on the third and fourth power blocs, and the average repair - on six power bloc.
A 1,050-megawatt thermal power plant Shirvan has been operating since 1962.
