Ashgabat will host an international conference on "Protection and sustainable use of bioresources of the Caspian Sea" on Oct. 8-10.

The exhibition will be held at the same time with the conference, the organizer of the event, the Turkmen State Fishery Committee, said.
Turkmenistan, along with Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran borders the Caspian Sea, which provides 90 percent of the world's stock of sturgeon. Ecologists mentioned that in addition to the quota of commercial production, poaching also thrives, which threatens both oil production and rare population, listed in the Red Book.
