New oil refineries to be built in Baku

Certain corrections have been introduced to the SOCAR project due to the drop in oil prices on the world markets, said SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.
He said though implementation of major projects currently continues, a number of projects have been removed from the SOCAR investment program for 2009.

He also noted that the drop in oil prices will not affect the cost of fuel on the Azerbaijani market.

"Construction of new oil refineries meeting modern standards is planned in the Baku suburbs in the near future. We have rejected reconstruction of oil refineries in the city and conduction of large scale work there", noted Abdullayev.
