On May 21, 2024, the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan) orchestrated a momentous gathering, hosting the AHK Members’ Assembly, Azernews reports.

The event, which saw an impressive turnout of over 80 esteemed business representatives, serves as a biannual platform for AHK Members to reflect on the accomplishments and initiatives of AHK Azerbaijan throughout the preceding year.

The assembly commenced with a warm welcome from Mr. Anar Hasanov, Chairman of AHK Azerbaijan's Board of Directors, who outlined the agenda for the day. Hasanov commended the tireless efforts of the chamber and its staff, emphasizing the significance of member engagement and the burgeoning membership numbers as indicators of success.

Dr. Ralf Horlemann, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Azerbaijan, took the stage, highlighting the dynamic exchanges between Germany and Azerbaijan over the past 15 months. Notable events, such as Azerbaijan's upcoming hosting of COP29 and President Ilham Aliyev's frequent visits to Germany, underscored the deepening ties between the two nations. Horlemann also pointed to the record number of visas issued to Azerbaijanis by Germany, signaling a promising trajectory for bilateral relations.

Chairman Anar Hasanov provided insights into AHK Azerbaijan's recent endeavors, including a plethora of business, online, and social events. He announced the appointment of Mr. Rashad Huseynli as Vice Chairman of the Energy Transition Working Group, acknowledging the dedication of AHK Azerbaijan's Working Groups. Hasanov also lauded the accomplishments of the Human Resources and Vocational Education & Training Working Group, unveiling the newly published "AHK Human Resources Insights" journals. Additionally, he shed light on the successful East Business Association of the Federal Republic of Germany business trip to Baku, co-organized by AHK Azerbaijan.

Mr. Hasanov proudly announced the addition of 15 new companies to AHK Azerbaijan since the previous Members' Assembly, bringing the total membership to 181, representing diverse sectors of the economy. The event culminated with the induction of new AHK Azerbaijan members and a convivial business dinner.

Established in 2012 as the official representative of the German economy in Azerbaijan, AHK Azerbaijan has evolved from the German-Azerbaijan Business Association (DAWF), founded in 1999. With 181 member companies, AHK Azerbaijan stands as the preeminent European economic association in Azerbaijan, offering invaluable information services and support for market research. Through its robust network and steadfast advocacy, AHK Azerbaijan continues to facilitate mutually beneficial partnerships between German and Azerbaijani enterprises, while providing essential business and legal services to its members.
