Azerbaijan Naval Forces base moves from Bayil

The base of Azerbaijani Naval Forces is being moved from Baku Bay – Bayil settlement, the defense sources said.

The moving of Naval Forces from Baku Bay is related to the military base’s situation in the territory of State Flag Square. All constructions in the surrounding territory are being destroyed owing to the establishment of Flag Square and its broadening towards the Sea Front. At the same time several ship repair facilities including the military base are being moved from the capital.

The Naval Forces will be temporary deployed in the territory of military base in Bibiheybat settlement and Zigh settlement. Then it will move to the new military base which will be constructed in Alat settlement.

The current military base of Naval Forces has been existing in Baku since Soviet period. Soviet Naval Forces’ Caspian fleet was deployed there.
