Iranian scientists develop artificial blood

Iranian scientists tested artificial blood in a laboratory. In the laboratory wvarious experiments were carried out on animals and positive results were obtained, Hussein Hanifi, head of the research project on artificial blood production, the MEHR News Agency reports.

He said this blood can be frozen, and it is compatible with all blood groups. "We have received artificial hemoglobin by using nanoparticles," Hanifi said.

This hemoglobin will play a role of oxygen carrier in the body. Artificial blood is sterilized and can be frozen." he said. Each year, Iran uses seven million units of blood.
