GUAM Interior Ministers' working group meeting held in Baku

The next meeting of working group on fighting for terrorism, organized crimes, illegal turnover of drugs and other dangerous crimes is held in Baku.

The officers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova Interior Ministry and the representatives of State Department of US take part in the meeting. The issues concerning 2006 report, information exchange, and the plan of events for 2007 are on the agenda of the meeting, APA reports.

In his speech Deputy Azerbaijan Interior Minister Vilayat Eyvazov stated that working group on organized crimes, terrorism, illegal turnover of drugs and fighting for corruption was established according to the agreement reached in Poti in 2002 and Azerbaijan was commissioned to leadership.

Eyvazov also noted that the establishment of virtual centers, transfer of operation information through them, use of this information in operations, formulate legal base of working group, draw up the protocols of GUAM have been realized within short time.

Stressing that the Harmoniya and Khimera operations realized in Azerbaijan resulted well, the Minister noted that during Harmoniya operation nearly 30kg narcotic substances were removed from illegal turnover within 10 days.

According to New York agreement the chairmanship to the working group will be two years. Moscow will lead the group from next year. At the end of the meeting protocol will be signed.
