US Ambassador issues statement on the anniversary of Elmar Huseynov's murder

The statement publicized by the press service of the Embassy reads: "Azerbaijan lost one of its leaders of media freedom in a tragic murder that shocked and saddened us all a year ago. Elmar Huseynov was a courageous and talented journalist, and an outspoken voice for democracy in Azerbaijan. We miss his passion, dedication, and strength."

On behalf of the United States, Reno Harnish extended his condolences to Roshana Huseynova, wife of the late editor and the entire Huseynovs.

The U.S. Embassy urges the Azerbaijani government to continue and accelerate its investigation of Elmar Huseynovs murder and to bring his killer or killers to justice.
