28 February 2006 [12:01] - TODAY.AZ
OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs discussed the Rambouillet meeting and informed the OSCE Chairman about it.

As APA reports, they are preparing for the meeting in Washington. American co-chair Steven Mann told in his interview to the radio "Voice of America".

The co-chair said that the talks in Rambouillet would be assessed and further steps would be determined in Washington.

Responding to the question "When do you think the Nagorno Karabakh conflict will be settled?", Mr. Mann said that it's not going to happen soon.

"However, solution ways of the conflict should be found. We witness great number of people suffering humanitarian calamity. There is an uncertain situation concerning Nagorno Karabakh, a lot of people are in alarm. This is the main factor that makes the sides increase their efforts. I think the conflict can be solved in 2006," the co-chair said.

Mr.Mann also admitted that the Rambouillet talks were difficult and achieved few improvements. According to him, both Presidents and co-chairs had come to Rambouillet to discuss decisive issues.

Touching on the failure of the negotiations, the co-chair said nothing was lost, solution ways should be searched.

"This conflict remains as a humanitarian disaster and very serious problem for the region’s security. We will carry on our work but the main thing is that the sides demonstrate political will," Mr. Mann said.

By saying political will, he meant compromises. The co-chair also said that in the experience of any international talks, no sides could achieve its aims absolutely.

"Now both Azerbaijan and Armenian have chance to settle the conflict without any failure. However, the wills of the Presidents, peoples as well as international support are needed to achieve this," Steven Mann concluded.
