National Democratic Institute probably will be again deprived of observing elections

26 October 2005 [14:44] - TODAY.AZ
The National Democratic Institute (NDI) was not granted a mandate to observe the November 6 elections to Milli Majlis (parliament) in Azerbaijan.

The NDI sent a request to the government of Azerbaijan for a permission to observe the parliamentary elections and did not receive a responce though less than 2 weeks are left for the elections. The NDI has not commented the issue yet.

Head of the press service of the Central Election Commission Azer Sariyev assured that the Commission did not receive any appeal from the National Democratic Institute for observing the parliamentary elections.

It must be noted that, the NDI for the same reason was unable to observe the 2003 presidential elections.
