Azerbaijani wrestler wins world silver in Athens

Azerbaijan’s Greco-Roman wrestler Zaur Aliyev claimed a silver medal at the Cadet World Championships in Athens, Greece.

The wrestler secured the medal in the men’s 50 kg weight class, Azertac reported.

Zaur Aliyev did not give any chance to his opponents from Hungary, Sweden and Armenia.

The Azerbaijani wrestler lost to Japanese athlete and was satisfied with the silver medal.

Notably, Zaur Aliyev was crowned a European champion in the men’s 46kg division a month ago.

The Cadet World Championship is a yearly event where the best Greco-Roman, Freestyle and Women wrestlers in the world aged 16 and 17 years old compete.

The championships bring together more than 100 athletes from Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia, Georgia and other countries.
