A delegation led by chairman of the Azerbaijan State Committee on Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov was on visit to France to discuss cooperation prospects with socio-public institutions of the country. Azeri delegation held a meeting with professors of Sorbonne University Jean-Antoine Duprat and Michel Carmona on Monday. Nazim Ibrahimov said that Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with one of the leader countries of the region stressing the importance of development of the relations between the two countries.
He noted Azerbaijan had became the leader country of the South Caucasus region as a result of successful policy led by Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev spotlighting the rapid economic growth and giant construction works held in Azerbaijan. Employee of the Azerbaijan Presidential administration Fazil Zeynalov touched upon Azerbaijan`s gained success during years of independence and reforms implemented by worldwide politician and statesman Heydar Aliyev, the county`s growing authority on the world arena thanks to the successful continuation of national leader Heydar Aliyev`s wise policy by President Ilham Aliyev.
He also underlined the occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijan territories including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions, a flood of one million refugees and internally displaced people. Professors of Sorbonne University Jean-Antoine Duprat and Michel Carmona also made speeches in the meeting. The speakers said that such meetings are very important in the boosting of cooperation between Azerbaijan and France. They also highlighted the active popularization process on Azerbaijan among less the informed French people.
“France is also very interested in the cooperation with Azerbaijan.” The sides discussed a joint cooperation protocol and exchanged views on investigations of forms of cooperation between Sorbonne University and Azerbaijan`s higher schools, research institutes and non- governmental organizations, education of French society on Azerbaijan`s truths and publishing of Azerbaijani books in the French language and other issues. The meeting attended by representatives of AMOR chaired by vice- president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, the Presidential Administration, The Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SAM) and non-governmental organizations, the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, Embassy in France and Azeri Diaspora.
