Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Moldova together with the Congress of Azerbaijanis in Moldova arranged Monday an event to mark the 22nd anniversary of 20 January tragedy.

Opening the event, Ambassador Namig Aliyev spoke of the history of 20 January tragedy. The Ambassador described the entrance of Soviet troops in Baku and declaration of state of emergency as gross violation of the Constitution of the USSR and Constitution of Azerbaijan SSR, as well as International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Speaking at the event, chairman of the Congress of Azerbaijanis in Moldova, Vugar Novruzov called the 20 January events as a bloody tragedy.
