Baku Fires held their first match in the 2011/12 World Boxing Series Season at the "Serhedchi" Olympic Sports Center.
The opponent was the Chinese team Wuxi Dragons. The home team took a confident victory with the score 5:0.
Prior to the match the cup of winners of Asian conference in the season 2010/11 was handed over to the Baku Fires. Nor surprisingly, the home team was in a very good mood, what probably helped them to show such an impressive result.
In the first contest in the bantamweight Magomed Abdulgamidov took to the ring against Yuyu Du. One of the leading Chinese boxers could not find anything to oppose 24-year-old Azerbaijani representative and lost the match by unanimous decision - 46:49, 45:50, 46:49.
The debutant of Fires Madadi Nagzibekov easily won his bout in the lightweight. It was obvious that young Zhengjia Deng is weaker than the experience boxer from Tajikistan, which was reflected in the final score - 50:45, 50:45, 50:45.
Another debutant of Fires Kheybulla Mursalov did not leave any hope to Dragons to change the course of the match. Silver medalist of China Championship-2011 Wei Liu looked helpless under aggressive attacks of 20-year-old Azerbaijani boxer and lost the match by unanimous decision – 45:50, 44:49, 43:50.
After a decisive point of Fires was earned the results of the last two bouts were academic. Nevertheless both boxers of Fires were seriously determined to win. In the light heavyweight contest participant of Olympic Games – 2008 Ramazan Magomedov defeated Yunlong She. The Chinese boxer was knocked downed in the first round, but managed to hold out until the end of the bout. It did not help him to change the situation and all referees awarded the victory to Ramazan Magomedov with the same score 50:44.
In the last contest in the heavyweight Abdulkadir Abdullayev took a victory over Parker Joseph from New Zeland with the score 49:46, 49:46, 49:46. Silver medalist of Youth Olympic Games 2010 demonstrated persistent resistance, but it was not sufficient to score for the Wuxi Dragons.
Thus Baku Fires takes its first home victory with a whitewash and becomes the leader of the group “B”.
