Monte Carlo hosted the eighth day of the chess tournament. Azerbaijani grandmaster Vugar Hashimov defeated former world champion Russian Vladimir Kramnik with score 1, 5:0, 5. The blindfold ended in a draw. However in the rapid chess, Vugar forces his rival to surrender after the 39th move. After the 8th round Vugar scored 8 points and shared the 5-6-th place with Russian Alexander Grischuk. The next opponent of the Azerbaijani grandmaster will be Israeli.
