Play-off matches for the World Chess Cup are underway in the Croatian city of Rijeka.
Azerbaijani chess player Rauf Mammadov’s rival was Gabriel Sargsyan from Armenia, who in the preliminary round triumphed over Russia's Sergei Volkov.
Sargsyan beat Mammadov in the first round while the third round ended in a draw. In the fourth round, the Azerbaijani chess player beat the Armenian player securing a right to participate in the World Cup.
