It is virtually certain that Diego Costa
will miss out on Saturday's Champions League final between Atlético and
Real Madrid, after it was confirmed that he is suffering from a Grade 1
muscle injury in his right hamstring.
Atlético's Spanish-Brazilian striker was forced to withdraw from
Saturday's game against Barcelona at the Camp Nou when his side won the
league title.
Atlético de Madrid have not announced how long the player will take
to recover, limiting themselves to a statement saying that it will
"depend on his progress". However, this type of injury generally
requires downtime of two weeks, meaning that it is highly unlikely that
he will face 'Los Blancos' in Lisbon on Saturday.
The good news is that Atleti's top goalscorer will be fit in time to
take his place in the final squad announced by Vicente del Bosque to
represent Spain at the 2014 Brazil World Cup.
