Azerbaijan`s grandmasters Shahriyar Mammadyarov and Teymur Rajabov are competing in the Blitz Chess events began at the SportAccord World Mind Games 2013 in Beijing on Saturday. The blitz event will run till December 16.
This category has a different format, whereby players faced-off two times and only have 3 minutes (+2 seconds added after every move) for an entire game.
The SportAccord World Mind Games, which is one of the strongest rapid and blitz events of the year with the participation of some of the world`s top grandmasters, take place in Beijing from December 12 till 18. Sixteen top men and sixteen top women`s players play in Rapid, Blitz and Basque (play white and black games simultaneously against the same opponent).
The World Mind Games are organized and held by a famous and respectable organization called SportAccord which is the umbrella organization for both Olympic and non-Olympic sports as well as a major organizer of conferences and sporting events.
The World Mind Games was held for the first time in 2008 and consisted of 5 disciplines: chess, bridge, draughts (checkers), go, and xiangqi (Chinese chess).
