Real Madrid CF, Paris Saint-Germain FC and holders FC Bayern München all have the last 16 in sight after maintaining their 100% group stage records with three more points on Wednesday.

PSG were particularly convincing, prevailing 5-0 at RSC Anderlecht thanks to a scintillating 20-minute treble from Zlatan Ibrahimovic – the eighth-fastest hat-trick in the competition's history. The Sweden striker went on to become only the 11th player to score four or more in a UEFA Champions League game. Laurent Blanc's side are now five points clear of SL Benfica and Olympiacos FC after that pair's meeting in Lisbon finished 1-1.

Bayern were equally emphatic as PSG in wrapping up their third victory of the campaign. Josep Guardiola's team won 5-0 against FC Viktoria Plzen courtesy of two goals from Franck Ribéry and one apiece for David Alaba, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Götze. Sergio Agüero also found the net twice as Manchester City FC came from behind to beat PFC CSKA Moskva 2-1. Manuel Pellegrini's troops trail Group D leaders Bayern by three points.

Ibrahimovic's exploits in Brussels took him to six for the season, but Cristiano Ronaldo still heads the way with seven after scoring both as Real Madrid defeated Juventus 2-1. That result allowed Galatasaray AS to climb from bottom in Group D to second, courtesy of a 3-1 home triumph over FC København.

Manchester United FC, meanwhile, are narrowly in charge of Group A, an early own goal enough to earn them victory at home to Real Sociedad de Futbol. David Moyes's side are a point above Bayer 04 Leverkusen, 4-0 winners against FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
