Upon his arrival to join the Spanish squad, Sergio Ramos gave his evaluation of the 'Mourinho era' and talked about the reasons behind the coach's departure. "As players, we can never decide what happens with the coach; we just need to fit in with the decision made by the club", he commented.
"It's been a fairly good spell for Real Madrid and a very rich experience for all of the footballers, but it has come full cycle and the club needs to keep moving forwards", Ramos said.
"It's always been obvious that he loves the Premier League. His decision to move there is understandable as is the positive way he talks about it", he continued.
Ramos also had a clear message for those who think that the attitude of the players was a key reason for the departure of the Portuguese: "Players never choose a coach. The club takes that decision and the players never cause one manager to leave or another to come in. We just adapt to the decisions made by the top brass".
The defender from Camas also talked about Iker Casillas returning from injury: "He has trained very hard to be in good shape these last months and he has put a lot of work in".
"I love managerial greats and Carlo Ancelotti is one of the greats", Sergio Ramos concluded, in reference to the big favourite to take charge of the Real Madrid dugout.
