Mingachevir has today hosted an event on “Last 1 month for London-2012 Summer Olympic Games” in “Kur” Olympic training center organized by the Azerbaijan’s National Olympic Committee.

The representative of Azerbaijani Olympic Committee Vagif Aliyev, youth and sportsmen have attended the event dedicated to promote the healthy lifestyle among youth, to provide equal rights of girls and boys in different areas of sport and to make sport more popular in Azerbaijan.

The speakers told about the high support of the government to youth and sport, the international successes of Azerbaijani sportsmen, Azerbaijani Olympic team which will be represented country with a wide range of squad and expressed their hope that the athletes will come back with a lots of medals.

The speakers also told about the importance of the event and congratulated people with the 20th anniversary of the founding of Azerbaijan’s National Olympic Committee, “Sport Year” and London-2012 Summer Olympic Games.

The 4 rowers of Azerbaijani National Olympic team consisting of 53 athletes are from Mingachevir. The speakers whished good luck to the Olympians who have been preparing for the games in “Kur” Olympic Training Center.

British Ambassador Peter Bateman whished good luck to Azerbaijani athletes who will represent the country in this grandiose sport event of the year.

The Ambassador also closely got acquainted with the conditions of the “Kur” Olympic Training Center and highly appreciated the works carried out by the Azerbaijani government in the field of sport.

Then, there was organized a rowing competition in Kur River among the junior and young rowers.
