A Revenue Watch Index, pioneering new measurement of government public disclosure in managing oil, gas and minerals ranks Azerbaijan ninth among 41 countries for making public detailed information about these key resources, the Revenue Watch Institute (RWI) and Transparency International (TI) announced on October 7.
The country is followed by such countries as United States, South Africa Republic, Malaisia, China, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait. The Revenue Watch Index is a pioneering measurement of government disclosure in the management of oil, gas and minerals. It ranks transparency in 41 countries among the world`s top producers of petroleum, gold, copper and diamonds.
The index, created in partnership with Transparency International, is an assessment and comparison of information published by governments about revenues, contract terms and other key data. It is an important tool for elected officials, policy makers, civil society and media seeking increased public disclosure about natural resource management, and greater government accountability.
