The 8th International Caucasus Studies Conference named after Gregory Peradze is being held at the University of Warsaw, Poland.
Azerbaijani embassy in Poland said this year’s conference is devoted to the 125th anniversary of Mahammad Amin Rasulzade, outstanding socio-political figure of Azerbaijan and Caucasus, one of the founders of Azerbaijan People’s Republic.
Scientists from Poland, Azerbaijan, Georgia, US, France, Germany and Turkey attended the conference.
Making a keynote speech at the conference rector of the University of Warsaw, Professor Vladimir Lengauer said Poland- Caucasus, particularly Poland-Azerbaijan relations had rich history and Mahammad Amin Rasulzade, who had spent significant part of his life in Poland, played important role in the development of relations.
Azerbaijani ambassador to Poland Vilayat Guliyev said it was noteworthy that the conference was devoted to Rasulzade and expressed gratitude to the organizers on behalf of the embassy.
Director of the Center for Eastern Europe Studies of the Warsaw University, Professor Yan Malitsky, Chairman of Georgian Committee on Relations with Compatriots Residing Abroad Nugzar Tsiklauri, Georgian ambassador to Poland Konstantin Kaftarashvili spoke about Rasulzade’s role in the political history of the Caucasus, Prometheus movement and Poland-Caucasus relations.
The scientific report on Rasulzade's role in Azerbaijan’s political life written by Tadeusz Swietochowski, professor of Columbia University, was distributed among the participants.
