Presentation of two multimedia books - “Azerbaijani Mugham” and “The World of Mugham” was held at Heydar Aliyev Foundation on November 11.
The presentation of “Azerbaijani Mugham” book was held as part of the “Azerbaijan’s Mughams” project being implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The book implies detailed information about kinds, genres, origin, structure, character and features of mugham, which is considered a masterpiece of Azerbaijan musical heritage.
The book has Azeri and English versions and is supplied with 8 CD-s.
Another album – “The World of Mugham” is dedicated to the International Mugham Festival, which was held in Baku this year in March.
The book includes thirty-three DVDs, which contain Azerbaijani mugham operas, symphonic mughams, classic Azerbaijani mughams, performances of outstanding foreign musicians and ethnic jazz samples.
Addressing the presentation, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP, Mehriban Aliyeva outlined the role of these books in the protection and propaganda of Azerbaijani mugham art.
Head of the Azerbaijan Union of Composers Firangiz Alizade, People’s Artist Arif Babayev and Honored Artist Teyyar Bayramov expressed gratitude to Mehriban Khanum for her efforts to preserve, promote and propagandize Azerbaijani mugham.
