Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) demined 2,618,950 square meters of area from mines and explosives in Azerbaijan in Aug. 2009, ANAMA press office said.
Nearly 9, 430 mines and unexploded ordnances (UXO) were cleared.
As many as 425 experts and 115 assistants, as well as five mine-clearing vehicles and 30 mine-sniffing dogs were involved with the mine actions.
ANAMA has cleared totally 110,263,642 square meters of area so far; 477,602 mines and unexploded ordnance were cleared.
The mine-sweep actions are carried out in Tartar, Aghdam, Fuzuli, Tovuz and Aghstafa region of the country and Garadagh district of Baku.
