Following Azerbaijan’s joining the appeal against domestic violence in the world and in Europe, the country has taken major steps against human rights violations.
One of the measures is creating and consolidating legal framework.
Social Policy Committee together with relevant government agencies had worked out various laws and regulatory documents related to the protection of human rights and freedoms, violence prevention, protection of labor rights.
A hearing on combating domestic violence attended by representatives of international and nongovernmental organizations and public took was held in the parliament.
Work is continuing on a draft law to combat domestic violence. The parliament has received a lot of feedback and suggestions from international organizations and representatives of local community. The bill will be submitted for discussions to the parliament in near future.
