Azerbaijani delegation headed by Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov was visiting New York on June 15-19.

According to APA, sources in Azerbaijan’s representation in UN reported that the aim of the visit is to continue works on initiative of the European information superline, proposed at the regional session of ministers in Baku on November 11 of 2008 and fixed in the Baku declaration and to hold exchange of views with the UN member-states and UN structures.

 

In terms of the visit, the delegation held bilateral meetings with UNDP management, adviser for UN secretary general on information technologies, permanent representative of Korea to chair the 64th session of the assembly of the UN second committee on economic issues, permanent representatives of Afghanistan, Estonia, Pakistan, Jordan, Sudan, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Slovenia, Russia, Cuba, Jamaica, China, Czechia, Ukraine in UN.

 

The Azerbaijani delegation also held a briefing “Transnational Eurasian Information superline” for the UN member-states in the UN headquarters. A.Abbasov, deputy FM Mahmud Mamedquliyev, permanent representative of Azerbaijan in UN Agshin Mehtiyev made speeches at the briefing.
