Officials of the Sabunchi police department held a successful operation during which they detained editors-in-chief of two newspapers, according to the press service for the Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan.

The detained are editor-in-chief of the Dovlet Qanunlari newspaper Nazim Guliyev and editor-in-chief of the Republika Qanunlari newspaper, earlier convicted Zamanat Azimov.

It was revealed that yesterday they came to market NO 5 in the Sabunchi district and started to demand money from Baku resident Naciba Kazimova. They demanded to pay them AZN 500. Otherwise, they threatened to write a libel about Kazimova.

Investigation is currently underway.
