A group of IDPs from Zengilan held a picket on the eve of Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves’ visit to Azerbaijan.
APA reports that the picketers chanted slogans "We demand justice from Estonia!", "Release Mirza Jamalov!", "Release Ahliman Zeynalov!" and demanded the release of their fellow countrymen arrested in Estonia a year ago. They said their fellow countrymen engaged in business in Estonia were illegally arrested.
"We call on Estonian president to ensure just investigation of the case. We urge Estonia, which considers itself member of the European Union, to end injustice," they said.
Tabiat Isayeva and Roza Karimova, mothers of Ahliman Zeynalov and Mirza Jamalov said they will appeal to the international organizations and go on hunger strike, if their sons are not released.
Narimanov district police detained three picketers. The police office told APA that they will be released after giving explanation.
Javanshir Suleymanov, the lawyer of the arrested Azeris, told APA that Mirza Jamalov and Ahliman Zeynalov had been arrested illegally. The lawyer said the arrested Azerbaijanis faced charges under articles 184.2 and 392 (smuggling of narcotics) of Estonia’s Criminal Code. "For the first time I observe such a violation of law in Estonia. They were arrested a year ago, but interrogated only once. Moreover, no drugs were found on them," he said.
Suleymanov said the hearing would be held in April.
