A monument has been erected for Azerbaijani prominent officials, who were killed in the helicopter crash in Garakand village on November 20, 1991.
People's artist Farhad Khalilov, head of Azerbaijan Artists' Union, told the APA that ahe author of the monument is sculptor Khanlar Ahmadov. Khalilov said the place of the monument is being defined at present. Soon Experts Council will define the place of erected monument. 19 persons, including interior minister Mahammad Asadov, prosecutor general Ismat Gayibov, state secretary Tofig Ismayilov, his assistant Rafig Mammadov, USSR Supreme Soviet's deputies Vali Mammadov, Zulfu Hajiyev, President Office's department chief Osman Mirzoyev, operator Fakhraddin Shahbazov, Arif Huseynzadeh, some leading officials of Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Region, military observers from Russia and Kazakhstan were killed in the helicopter crash in Garakand village, Khojavand on November 20, 1991. The main version is that Armenians stroke the helicopter.
