During the first quarter of this year, 86,777 families applied Azerbaijan's regional social protection centers for targeted social assistance benefits, allowed within the scope of the targeted social safety net program aimed to prevent poverty.
The Social Protection and Labor Ministry informs that 71.9% of the documents submitted by families were registered. The commission processed 51,547 applications (82.6% of the registered) and assigned social assistance benefit to 20,367 families (44%) for the first time and 25,866 families again. The targeted social assistance cover 210,758 people, the amount per person is AZN 14.51, per family AZN 66.25. It was refused to assign social assistance benefits to 3,654 families (7.1%), including 1,357 deprived of assistance for two years. Up to now, 55,372 families have received social assistance benefits in Azerbaijan, APA reports.
