"National library" department was opened under the Lermontov Central library in St. Petersburg.

Azerbaijani consulate also played role in the opening of the department, consul general to St. Petersburg told the APA.

Participating in the opening ceremony Consul General Gudsi Osmanov said they tried to enlarge the Azerbaijani department of the library and did their best to develop bilateral cultural relations.

The director of the library Sereychik said opening of the Azerbaijani department served the development of friendship relations between the two countries.

Consulate-general presented the books reflecting Nagorno Karabakh problem, Heydar Aliyev's life and activity, as well as the works by Azerbaijani writers to the library.
